Roles & Responsibilities:

• The development, implementation and application of corrosion control strategies, performing materials and coating selection studies, development of corrosion management strategies and corrosion risk assessments.

• Interface with design engineers, manufacturers and fabrication contractors to ensure best practice and client specifications are applied to all stages of engineering projects.

• Defect assessment; anomaly management; developing risk-based inspection programs; management of corrosion control matrices and integrity management databases.

• Provide materials selection expertise based upon knowledge of metallurgy, engineering materials, operating environment and material degradation mechanisms.

• Writing, checking and issuing of design documents for cathodic protection systems for pipeline (onshore and offshore) and static pressure systems components.

• Conduct corrosion modelling activities, contribute to fitness for service studies and provide remaining life assessments.

• Audit of corrosion management strategies and delivery of continuous improvement of integrity management systems

• Site based troubleshooting.

• Assist in the training / development of other team members.

• Review ITT (invitation to tender) documents and prepare project cost and time estimates (CTRs)

• Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering

• Directs preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned

• Ensures successful completion of the assigned project/phase within the budgeted time and cost

• Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling

• Evaluates problems, organizes investigations and establishes general performance specifications for components, equipment, systems, processes, etc.

• Check Engineering calculations as well as check all drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards; Assist with the development of less senior Technical Professionals

• Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

• Participate in audits and incident investigations as required

• Organizing and active participation in design reviews

• Solves problems requiring development of new approaches or new uses for existing approaches; exercises mature professional judgment in evaluating and selecting technical strategic options.

• As necessary, modifies established guidelines, devises new approaches, applies existing criteria in new ways and draws conclusions from comparative situations.

• Regularly functions as a technical leader or significant contributor to a major complex problem or projects.

• Produces innovative ideas and solves problems requiring development of new approaches or new uses for existing approaches.

• Consistently called on to use creativity and professional judgement to formulate results based on engineering standards, experience and constructive thinking

• Develops unique solutions for complex technical problems.

• Anticipates potential problems and takes the initiative to solve complex problems through creative thinking and creative use of internal and external resources both inside and outside of discipline

• Exercises mature professional judgement in identifying the implications of experimental results.

• Understands customer needs and applies technical solutions to meet goals.

• Provide technical input and support to proposals as required

• Approves work schedules and makes recommendations for increased resources and special equipment.

• Makes commitments on acceptance of projects, completion dates, resources and staff required to meet goals.

• Coordinates the activities of engineering and design groups assigned to small projects

• Provide appropriate HSSE leadership including compliance with site and office safety requirements and technical/design safety requirements

Required Skills (Technical Competency):

• Professional level of ability in the application of standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution.

• Professional level of knowledge of applicable codes and standards

• Applies mature professional knowledge and experience to assignments where issues and factors to be considered may be characterized by unusual demands and require additional evaluation to establish the nature and scope of the problem.

Desired Skills:

• Bachelor’s in Materials/ Metallurgy/ Chemistry is preferred. Master’s / PhD is plus.

• Experience of 8+ years in the Oil & Gas or Energy industries preferred in a role which had a primary technical function requiring the provision of corrosion engineering services.

• Ability to provide guidance and direction to project team, managing, motivating and mentoring professional engineering specialists.

• Ability to discover issues and recommend solutions to technical and commercial issues uncovered during course of performing assignments.

• Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates

• Compelling communicator both verbally and in written form

• Good interpersonal and team working skills, builds positive relationships with supervisors, subordinates, peers and clients.

• High level of awareness and commitment to safety in all aspects of daily work.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
