Iron County is accepting applications to create a hiring roster for employment as a Corrections Deputy at the Iron County Jail. This roster can be utilized for a period of 12 months to fill vacancies.  Minimum starting wage (for applicants over 21) is $25.26 per hour, this may be adjusted for those who have POST Certification and Experience.  Iron County will give year for year credit, for up to 10 years of previous verifiable Corrections Deputy Experience.  Because of certification restrictions, applicants who are under 21 will be hired at a wage lower than posted above.

Please note this is not a corrections deputy position and we do not currently have vacancies. However, we will utilize this roster to fill positions as they become available.

This position will monitor inmate security, transport inmates, prepare written documentation and conduct inmate searches, in addition to other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements: Applicant must be 19 years of age prior to graduation from POST Academy. Must be a US Citizen, have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess a Utah Driver License in good standing. Preference will be given to those holding a current Utah POST Corrections Officer Certificate. A written and physical examination must be passed along with a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background investigation and 10-week POST Corrections Officer Training Program.
