Intermountain Health Volunteer- Cedar City Hospital in Cedar City, Utah

Job Description:

Join our volunteer program as we bring sunshine and smiles to our patients, community, and staff.

We provide care through our customer service and caring hearts. Volunteers serve in various ways to assist Intermountain in providing extraordinary care to our patients, family members, guests, and staff.

Here is the type of service you may provide

  • Volunteers assist with wayfinding and information gathering and provide comfort items.

  • Volunteers are trained to serve as patient liaisons and guest service advocates in waiting rooms and reception areas.

  • Volunteers assist with patient activities, such as reading, playing a musical instrument, helping with an arts and craft project, provide video games and movies.

  • Volunteers are trained in safety and infection control, age and illness-appropriate activities, and how to respond to an emergency.

Basic Volunteer information to agree to before applying:

  • Immunizations (COVID-19 Vaccine is NOT required)

  • We require a 6-month commitment with a MINIMUM 72-hour served, which equates to ONE 4-hour shift per week or TWO 2-hour shifts per week. With an 80% attendance policy. Please make sure you have time in your schedule to fulfill this minimum requirement.

  • We design our program around our patients. We fill positions based on needs, not on volunteer requests

  • We have a Professional Appearance dress code which will be reviewed in our orientation

  • Successful fulfillment of the following requirements – after the interview and before starting as a volunteer:

  • Drug test

  • Background check

  • Immunization verification with Employee Health Nurse

  • Online Orientation modules

  • On-site Orientation meeting

  • On-site Training

  • We do not accept court-ordered required hours

Position Times: Variety of hours available and PRN needed

Performance Competencies (knowledge, motor skills, and behaviors): As noted on the Volunteer Approved Assignment and Competency list.

  1. Able to work well with diverse populations

  2. Moderate lifting/carrying/pushing

  3. Practice good hygiene

  4. Adequate hearing and vision (able to read the small print)

  5. Ability to recognize boundaries and limitations of duties and not act independently of those functions
