Actalent Project Manager - Controls Engineering in Detroit, Michigan

Actalent Services (formerly EASi LLC) is hiring an Engineering Project Manager for a permanent leadership role managing automation/controls projects within our Manufacturing Engineering vertical. Preferred candidates will possess strong technical experience as a controls engineer and proven project engineering and project management experience. Hybrid flexibility with minimum travel (less than 25%) offered to candidates local to our engineering center in Troy, MI.

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of onsite/offsite managed projects through all phases of development, from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, control and closure. The Project Manager will work closely with program management to procure or hire internal employees/consultants for projects and with internal support functions to deliver a great customer experience while providing leadership and direction to our project teams and ensure that all projects meet their Cost, Quality and Timing requirements. This role requires maintaining and growing relationships with key customer stakeholders and Actalent’s center-based/onsite engineering teams to enhance project performance in support of customer business goals.

Essential Functions

  • Manage multiple center-based/onsite managed projects through all phases of development, from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, control and closure while following Actalent’s Services Management Framework (SMF)

  • Ensure compliance to customer specifications, quality standards, regulatory requirements, company work rules and procedures and safety requirements

  • Develop and manage project plans, budgets, schedules and documentation including change management, risk mitigation and reporting

  • Develop tracking methods to monitor customer and internal KPI

  • Work closely with Delivery Operation’s team to align project management with account management

  • Distribute workflow from customer to Group Leaders and Practice Managers to allocate to their teams

  • Maintain a high level of relationships with all customer stakeholders

  • Utilize program management skills of communication, presentation, time management, organization and planning to successfully achieve program goals and objectives and SLA’s

  • Conduct periodic status meetings with customers and team to assess progress against the plan

  • Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly status reports to Actalent Services' management and appropriate client recipients

  • Work closely with Delivery Operations to resolve all project issues with customer and suppliers as appropriate while working with Actalent’s internal teams

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical, industrial or manufacturing engineering required

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience with PLC and HMI programming and troubleshooting experience

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in manufacturing and/or industrial maintenance environments

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience as project manager / project engineer - leading projects, assigning work, creating scheduling, client-facing, accountability for project delivery

  • Must have prior Rockwell Automation PLC with RS Logix and Control Logix programming experience

  • Must have prior Rockwell Automation HMI and Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk experience; Ignition or other SCADA experience desired

  • Experience working for integrators or automation engineering services providers strongly preferred

  • Ability to effectively present to large customer groups

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Good organizational and time management skills

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with managing large dispersed teams with diverse skillsets

  • Team player with ability to work in a highly cross-functional and virtual environment

  • Ability to travel when needed, up to 20%

  • PMP Certified a plus; proven knowledge of project management methods required

  • Highly proficient in PC applications- MS Office suite of tools

    Compensation / Benefits:

  • $100,000-$130,000 base salary, $10,000 annual bonus potential, employee profit sharing program, 4 weeks paid time-off, 6 paid holidays, monthly cell phone allowance, 401(k) w/company match, M/D/V benefits ( REFCR2023 )
