KPS Global, LLC Supply Chain Assistant Director in Fort Worth, Texas

KPS Global (KPSG) is the North American industry leader in the manufacture, production, and installation of Walk-in Coolers and Freezers. KPSG’s end-product serves many channels within the retail food market as well as industrial applications. KPSG is based in Fort Worth, Texas with Engineering activities centralized in the Fort Worth facility (along with Finance, Human Resources, Customer Operations, Sales, and Installation Services), supporting product manufacturing in five locations: Fort Worth; Piney Flats, TN; Goodyear, AZ; San Dimas, CA; and Conyers, GA.

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating all Supply Chain activities in support of department and company objectives; a particular focus on procurement, team management/mentorship, and supplier development. This role has a mixed strategic and tactical focus.

The Supply Chain Assistant Director is responsible for procurement compliance, PO lifecycle management, ensuring adequate inventory levels are set and maintained, identifying, and reducing Excess and Obsolete inventory, and supporting all new product development/R&D initiatives. This role interacts frequently with senior leadership and company executives and must be comfortable presenting clear plans and challenges in such settings as a professional. Annual spend is over $140M. This position is in-person at least four days a week and is based in Fort Worth, Texas.

Required Skills

  • Mentor, train, and develop raw materials procurement team, four of whom are located at geographically diverse production facilities

  • Build cross-functional trust through relationship building and strong personal integrity

  • Ensure procurement compliance (PO lifecycle management, proper documentation, standard operating procedures, etc.)

  • Purchase of raw materials, finished goods, expensed items, and services required to support manufacturing, sales, and general business operations

  • Stay current with business situations and economic conditions to make informed decisions and adequately address changing material requirements, i.e., price and supply chain management (being paramount)

  • Organize supplier meetings and visits when necessary, and work closely with Design, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Production Control, Sales, Customer Service, Cost Accounting, and Accounts Payable daily

  • Manages supplier accounts and communicate price, quality, and service issues

  • Responsible for supply chain project management (supplier transitions, new product development, etc.), and monitor on-time status, accuracy of work, and proper adherence to procedures

  • Guides employee relative to their dealings with suppliers and/or personnel from other departments within the company

  • Ensure system parameters, including vendor profiles, item setup, safety stock, reorder points, lead-time, Bills of Material are current and accurate

  • Participates in multi-functional team meetings, task forces, and projects as a representative of the Supply Chain department

  • Visits suppliers in North America (Canada, U.S., and Mexico) to build professional relationships, become familiar with different manufacturing processes, review operations, expedite items, troubleshoot, and help evaluate overall capabilities

  • Manage the supplier base and regularly monitor performance. Locate and qualify new suppliers. Consolidate supplier base where needed, and drive SKU reduction efforts in concert with Engineering

  • Professionally resolve problems (both external and internal) in a fair and ethical manner while protecting the long-term interest of the company

  • Work hand in hand with operations to minimize working inventory through appropriate inventory control methods, i.e., kanban, vendor managed, consigned, etc

  • Lead out in the Procurement portion of Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning meetings (1x monthly)

  • Comfortable presenting to company executives from time to time

  • Counsel the supply chain director and other company leadership and execute timely against tasks assigned while providing follow up

  • Travel to various production sites and suppliers expected up to 30%

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university. MBA or Master of Supply Chain preferred

  • 7-10 years of sourcing and supply chain management experience in a manufacturing environment

  • 3-5 years managing direct reports

  • APICS, CPIM certification preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required to effectively interface at all levels in the organization

  • Tact and a high degree of judgment are required to discharge duties within and outside the company

  • The ideal candidate should have a proven record of management ability, leadership skills, organization and planning skills, purchasing, project management skills, effective decision making, problem solving/analysis, and successful negotiating experience

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and bill of materials

  • Knowledgeable in ERP / MRP software, operating processes, support and lead on-going business implementation (Infor Cloudsuite Industrial)

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel

  • Experience in custom residential or commercial building/structure manufacturing space
