City of Franklin Business Outreach Coordinator in Franklin, Pennsylvania

Overview:

The City of Franklin is seeking a Business Outreach Coordinator to join the Community & Economic Development Department at the City of Franklin.

General Statement of Duties: The Business Outreach Coordinator supports and assists the Development Director in facilitating the operations of the Venango Area Industrial Complex (VAIC) and the Emerging Technology Center (ETC) by coordinating services and providing business development assistance to tenants and entrepreneurs. This position assists in carrying out the economic development initiatives developed jointly by the City of Franklin and FICDA Board of Directors.

Job Features: Professional position that requires involvement in business retention and expansion, fostering tenant relationships, financial and business analysis, grantsmanship, and skills in business development. The Business Outreach Coordinator primarily supports the development and growth of new and early-stage manufacturing and commercial companies, as well as existing manufacturers and commercial businesses. This position is under the supervision of the Development Director.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Assists the Development Director in facilitating entrepreneurship and small business development.

  • Aids in on-boarding of entrepreneurs, small businesses, and startup ventures and ensures operational effectiveness.

  • Assists in the administrating of lease agreements with tenants.

  • Supports the implementation of FICDA's overall structure and processes; organizes workshops and events, etc., as part of the incubator operations.

  • Works to identify and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as support the writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies. Effectively manages grants and donations received from different sources; ensuring timely reporting and compliance.

  • Assists in the development and delivery of effective business attraction & business development marketing for FICDA and the City of Franklin.

  • Informs entrepreneurs and small business owners of potential funding, educational resources, and networking opportunities.

  • Promotes a positive image of FICDA and the City of Franklin by participating in community and professional organizations, representing FICDA and the City of Franklin at professional meetings, as designated by the Development Director.

  • Assists in the coordinating of facility operations in conjunction with the Development Director, Office Manager, and Facilities Manager.

  • Remains competent and current through professional readings, interactions with colleagues, attendance at professional conferences and trainings/courses, as directed.

  • Contributes to the overall success of FICDA and the City of Franklin by performing other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree, in public administration, business, or planning, from a college or university of recognized standing, and at least two (2) years of demonstrated experience is required. However, a combination of educational attainment, experience, and training which provides the required skills and abilities, may be substituted.

  • Must possess a valid PA driver's license.

  • The preferred candidate will have a knowledge of best practices of business incubation/business accelerators and business development principles; demonstrated understanding of governmental organizations and private business entities and the legal responsibilities and constraints of such; and an understanding of economic development programs and both private and public economic development resources at the local, State and Federal levels.

  • Ability to effectively manage contracts, such as grants, tenant leases, and professional and construction contracts.

  • Ability to maintain cordial working relations with other departments, agencies, and organizations, both inside and outside the City of Franklin.

-Excellent writing and verbal skills, including strong presentation and persuasive skills. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Job Type: Full-time (37.5 hours/week)

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday with occasional weekends and evenings.
