In this role, the Corrosion Lab Technician will:

  • Review job requirements and set up required test equipment.

  • Prepare work orders for testing to be performed.

  • Perform test programs and procedures to written instructions.

  • Conduct corrosion, weathering and/or environmental qualification evaluations of metal and plastic parts (cyclic corrosion, salt spray, thermal/humidity, environmental cycles, etc) involved with various industries and applications (automotive, aerospace, consumer products, military, etc.)

  • Interpret and evaluate results to applicable methods, codes and specifications.

  • Complete reports and documentation as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Mechanically inclined with basic math skills

  • Candidate must be willing and able to work varying hours

  • Candidate must have good communication skills and be computer literate.

  • Excellent oral/written skills

  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills

  • Familiarity with Excel/Word

  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. daily and often

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team but also exhibit a high level of autonomy

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly absorb a variety of test procedures and methods

  • Attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to handle fast-changing priorities in a quality-driven environment

  • “Can do” attitude

    Preferred Requirements:

  • BS or AS degree or some courses in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering or in a related field of study is preferred

  • Familiarity with test procedures such as ASTM, SAE, ISO, DIN or IEEE is preferred

  • Hands-on experience with any of the following is highly preferred: Weathering tests, salt, corrosion, humidity or any other environmental testing

  • Basic mechanical design and machining experience is also preferred
