Job Title: Project Superintendent

Job purpose

The Project Superintendent performs a variety of tasks while fulfilling their responsibility being the primary contact and responsible persons in executing and coordinating the electrical installation of Dynalectric projects, while upholding Dynalectric’s core values and expectations of being a top tier subcontractor in the electrical industry.

Duties and responsibilities

Preconstruction/Project Set Up

  • Delineation of scope to General Forman.

  • Read and understand all project requirements.

  • Read and understand project contract and subcontracts.

  • Assist in purchase order process as needed to support Project Manager.

  • Ensure field team understands project scope and specifications.

  • Create and manage detailing plan and schedule.

  • Create temp power plan.

  • Create field project schedule and manpower loader.

  • Set and manage expectations for GF’s.

  • Provide PM with QTY’s for major material items and buyout.

  • Create prefab plan. Work and manage project field team as it relates to prefab.

  • Review PMs submittals as needed.

  • Create tool plan and projection for project.

  • Create Subcontractor schedules/look ahead.

  • Set up field office.

  • Ensure field break facilities are up to par with local union CBA.

Construction

  • Manage and implement a strong safety culture.

  • Create an advantageous positive work environment.

  • Work with Dynalectric project site field leaders to maintain project schedule.

  • Work as a team and collaborate closely with Dyna PM

  • Build a relationship with the GC, fellow subs, and be the field contact for Dyna on the project.

  • Manage and provide support for onsite field supervisors by assisting, supporting, and maintaining accountability of GF’s on the project.

  • Manage onsite field supervisors.

  • Manage onsite Manpower.

  • Work with Field Operations Superintendent to ensure adequate manpower is onsite per project schedule.

  • Work with the GC and other trades to establish a productive and efficient work environment.

  • Track and manage productivity on the job site.

  • Schedule and manage Dyna’s sub-contractors.

  • Assist PM team with writing of RFI’s.

  • Manage rental/ consumable safety/ tooling budgets

  • Ensure As-builts are up to date and compliant with contract requirements

  • Manage Project labor hours budgets on a weekly basis

  • Ensure all close out docs have been submitted.

  • Maintain efficient and manageable laydowns.

  • Maintain appropriate levels of material and tools.

  • Produce precent completes for PM’s monthly WIP reports.

  • Uphold Dyna’s standards on QA/QC

  • Assist, support and manage GFs on the project.

  • Uphold Dynalectric as a top tier subcontractor and its core values.

Project CX & Closeout

  • Assist with process development and ensure all CX & LOTO systems are in place and followed.

  • Demobilization of tools and material

  • Call off all rental equipment

  • Ensure all close out docs have been submitted

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • At least ten years of electrical experience and 5 years of experience running projects as a primary lead.

  • Journeyman License or Certification.

  • Excellent understanding of electrical construction and

  • Proficiency with MS Excel, MS word, Primavera P6, Navisworks, &

  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment

Working conditions

Mostly office based on project site. Typical working hours for the Project Superintendent may vary. Generally, Monday – Friday during normal business hours, but when deadlines approach, they may be required to work much longer hours, including some weekend work. The AZ PS in the field may be required to work out of the office and sometimes to stay away from home for short to long periods of time. Some travel may be required for training/continuing education.

While performing the duties of this job, the AZ PS may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration; may be exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites (weather, noise, etc.).

Physical requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Project Superintendent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The AZ PS is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
