Within Honeywell Aerospace, CNS (Communication, Navigation, Surveillance) group is responsible for the innovation, development, certification and design of electronic Aerospace products related to communication, radio navigation and safe aircraft operation.

The Navigational Radios – Radar Altimeters is an engineering group with the Communication, Navigation & Surveillance organization in which this System Engineer role is included – with products spread across both commercial and defense domains. While part of a large company and diverse organization, the NavRadio-Radar Altimeter group operates very much like a small business in many ways. We are fully integrated every aspect of a product’s life cycle – from working with a customer on a concept and subsequent proposal, through development, verification, production, and even obsolescence refreshes.

Key Responsibilities

Our key contributors wear multiple “hats” dependent upon the program scope and timeline. As a System Engineer (SE), our expectation on medium to smaller programs is for the SE to operate as both Systems Engineer and Design/Development Engineer – managing both the “system” side and the “design” side that falls under your particular discipline.

  • Provide support to existing programs and as skills develops operate more independently on tasks/programs

  • Develop requirements and system architecture – perform trade studies

  • Design to meet requirements (discipline dependent)

  • Test and validate designs – in prototype phase and for formal compliance – on bench, at off-site test facilities, and flight testing with both Honeywell and customer

  • Draft respective program artifacts, inclusive of items such as systems requirement document, test procedures and reports, white papers, etc.

  • Provide support to devices in production

  • “Jump in” and support other team members when/where needed

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

WE VALUE

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Aerospace or related Engineering discipline

  • Experience and/or exposure in any of the following are a Plus:

  • Aerospace exposure & experience;

  • Knowledge of aircraft avionics

  • Familiarity with electronics and RF disciplines;

  • Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done

  • Multi-tasking and has the ability to manage a variety of tasks

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to directly engage and influence others in change initiatives — including process, productivity and globalization.

  • Able to break down complex problems into simple ideas for others to understand.
