About the Team:

UKG Inc. is seeking a passionate Sr. Database Engineer to join our award-winning organization. As the Sr. Database Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of our SQL Server databases. You will be working to proactively make changes to meet the growing needs of the business. If you have a strong understanding of T-SQL development, performance optimization and best practices, you may be a perfect fit for this role!

About the Role:

• Design, develop, and implement efficient and scalable T-SQL Code for our cloud delivered enterprise HCM Software Solution

• Build functionality in our software solution as part of a cutting-edge agile software development team

• Perform database tuning and optimization to maximize performance while keeping application downtime to a minimum

• Collaborate with developers to optimize queries and improve overall system performance

• Conduct regular performance analysis and make recommendations for improvements

• Review latest trends and technologies in database engineering and propose innovative solutions to enhance our systems

• Work closely with production support and operations personnel to identify and remove bottlenecks in the system while maintaining existing application functionality

• Participate in on-call rotation for production database support for issues related to development

Qualifications

About You:

Basic Qualifications:

• Must have 4+ years T-SQL coding experience on large projects.

• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2016 & 2019 and its core components, including database design, query optimization, and indexing.

• Extensive experience in creating and maintaining tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, TSQL, dynamic SQL, indexes, and data constraints.

• Must possess expert troubleshooting and performance tuning.

• Must be able to dig in and understand the business needs & requirements and translate that into the most efficient approach to solve the problem

• Excellent data modelling skills and 4+ years of experience with large (1000+ table) database systems with > 500GB of data

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong work ethic with a sense of ownership, Team, urgency, and drive and an unwavering commitment to do the right thing. 

• Proven leadership in facilitating complex discussions to achieve goals and solve problems. Proven analytical and decision-making skills.

• Experience in quickly identifying and optimizing customer related SQL Server performance issues using built-in DMVs.

• Experience using Git for source control with GitHub or Bitbucket a plus

• HCM / Payroll domain knowledge a big plus.
