Your role :

If you want to enter the world of digital media and be part of the change and growth of one of Canada’s long-established and respected broadcasters, this is your chance. CBC Digital Products is looking for a Streaming Backend Developer

to work with the OTT team. It is a highly collaborative, high exposure role.

As a Backend Developer, you will contribute to some of the most prominent video streaming products in Canada: CBC Gem and Tou.tv. You are fluent in .NET Core api development, Azure media services, Akamai media services, HLS, Dash and Smooth streaming technologies, and digital rights management.

As part of the OTT team you will contribute to the evolution of the media asset management system, the securing of content, the optimisation of the distribution cloud infrastructure, and ad serving technologies. You will also participate in implementing a robust monitoring system based on the Elastic-Kibana-Logstash ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing and developing the above solutions to meet business objectives

  • Assist in the management of backlog story of our various products

  • Ensure that internally developed applications perform well and can meet high demand

  • Write business rules in the domain layer of CBC/Radio-Canada (DDD)

  • Write automated tests

  • Participate in sprint planning, retros and applications deployment

  • Participate in the code review process

What you bring:

  • University degree or equivalent experience

  • Proficiency in C#, TypeScript is an asset

  • Proficiency in Visual Studio or VS Code

  • Knowledge of GIT

  • Understanding of principles of MS SQL database

  • Understanding of principles of Mongo database (asset) and ElasticSearch (asset)

  • Proficiency in OAuth 2.0 and API REST protocols

  • Proficiency in ASP. NET Core and Web API

  • Familiarity with Docker container, Cloud, Azure or other environments, an asset

  • Knowledge on one or more of the following technologies: Layer7, Viafoura, Zuora, LoginRadius, an asset

  • Meticulous, self-reliant and resourceful

  • Other technologies: Akamai, Node.js, React

  • GraphQL is an asset

  • Vue.js and python are an asset

  • Bilingualism in French & English is a requirement
