The community you’ll be caring for:
AdventHealth East Orlando, a 265-bed community hospital, has been serving East Orlando residents since 1941 as an innovative local leader that fills a vital need in a fast-growing area
A recent 200,000 square-foot expansion project upgraded the hospital to 265 beds, with a spacious patient tower and 80 new private rooms designed to enhance the holistic care experience
Annual number of emergency cases: 89,018
The role you’ll contribute:
The Infection Prevention (IP) Coordinator supports the Infection Prevention department and the ADVENTHEALTH system by coordinating multiple reporting and auditing functions including mandatory Department of Health reportable diseases/microorganisms, enhanced environmental and process audits and others as assigned by the Director of the Infection Prevention department. The IP Coordinator summarizes audit and reporting data for the purpose of presentation to stakeholders and for performance improvement monitoring. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Accurately completes and documents reporting of diseases and conditions to the State and/or local health department in a timely manner per Florida Department of Health regulatory requirements for publicly reportable diseases and conditions.
Creates and maintains collaborative relationships with stakeholders, including the Department of Health personnel to facilitate communication and ensure infection prevention compliance with reporting requirements that may arise from new or evolving public health diseases or conditions or with public health investigations that may arise from a publicly reported disease or condition.
Creates and utilizes audit tools to monitor practices and environmental infection control in multiple sites, including ambulatory care sites, laundry facilities, food and nutrition sites, and others as the need is identified. Provides immediate feedback to local leadership when gaps are identified. Coordinates with campus-specific Infection Preventionists to ensure audits are performed in a timely manner. Compiles all findings and enters into a database to ensure a comprehensive surveillance plan and report.
Aggregates findings, creates and maintains records of findings, and creates presentations for stakeholders and leadership to share findings and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
Required:
An associate degree in nursing, biology, public health, or related field such as microbiology OR
One year of experience in infection prevention, ambulatory care services, medical or scientific laboratory or related field such as public health
Ability to read and understand scientific infection prevention related documents, including regulatory guidance and strategic prevention publications
Ability to interact cooperatively and respectfully with IP team members and clinical partners
Ability to observe health care processes and environmental conditions, compare those to best practices and identify gaps, document and present individual and aggregate findings, create collaborative improvement plans, and provide follow-up auditing to ensure successful completion of those plans
Computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred:
- Current licensure (accepted from any state) in a healthcare-related field
