Description Sheetmetal workers in the marine environment are responsible for fabrication and installation of ventilation and air conditioning ducts made from thin gauges of steel, aluminum or stainless material. They also fabricate and install bins, racks, lockers, tabletops, sinks, shelves, furring, sheathing and intake and exhaust stacks with a high degree of craftsmanship. Fabrication is taken from blueprints, field sketches or directly from ships conditions. Construction consists of riveted, bolted or welded joints. Machine tools used for these operations include shears, brakes, presses, rollers, drills, saws, spot welders and grinders. Basic Qualifications Must be a high school graduate or have completed your GED and can't have been a 1st Class Journeyman or former Regular Apprentice. You must provide the following information at time of Intake Interview Original High School or G.E.D. Transcripts (your diploma will not be accepted) Any college or vocational transcripts or certificates Driver?s License Original Social Security Card (or form from Social Security Office stating you have applied) Original Birth Certificate DD214 if former Military
