Alliance Franchise Brands Human Resource Generalist in Plymouth, Michigan

Alliance Franchise Brands is seeking an HR Generalist. This person will play a crucial role in supporting the Human Resources department.  This includes generating error-free payroll for approximately 200 employees in three different entities; one of which is Canadian. In addition, the HR Generalist will be responsible for handling a range of HR duties, from employee record keeping and compliance, to assisting in recruitment processes and contributing to the overall efficiency of HR operations.

Essential functions

  • Payroll Entry and Management:

  • Process payroll accurately and timely, including data entry of hours worked, deductions, and other relevant information.

  • Calculate and process payroll adjustments, such as bonuses, commissions, overtime, and deductions.

  • Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate with finance and accounting departments to reconcile payroll data and ensure accurate financial reporting.

  • Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and tax laws to ensure compliance and accuracy in payroll processing.

  • Assist in year-end payroll activities, including issuing W-2 forms and preparing payroll reports for tax filings.

  • Maintain payroll records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Work with HRIS systems to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency.

  • Employee Records/HRIS Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and data.

  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and maintain confidentiality of employee information.

  • Onboarding and Offboarding:

  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing necessary paperwork, conducting orientations, and assisting in the setup of new employee accounts.

  • Manage offboarding procedures, conducting exit interviews, collecting company property, and processing termination paperwork.

  • Benefits Administration:

  • Support benefits administration by assisting employees with inquiries, enrollment, and changes to benefits plans.

  • Collaborate with benefits providers and ensure accurate and timely processing of benefit-related paperwork.

  • HR Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare HR-related documents such as offer letters, contracts, and policies.

  • Generate regular HR reports on metrics such as employee turnover, attendance, and training completion.

  • HR Compliance:

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies.

  • Stay updated on changes in employment legislation and help implement necessary adjustments.

  • Recruitment Support:

  • Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.

  • Coordinate pre-employment activities, including background checks and employment verification.

  • Employee Relations:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits.

  • Address employee concerns and escalate issues to HR management when necessary.

    Required education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field or 5+ years of relevant experience.

  • Strong understanding of HR principles and practices.

  • Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and MS Office (especially Excel and Word).

  • Hybrid work schedule with at least 4 days each week in office

    Preferred education and experience

  • Proven experience in Human Resources or similar role preferred.

  • SHRM or HRCI certification a plus

  • Experience using Paylocity a plus.

  • Experience processing payroll for multi-entities and Canada a plus.
