FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt GRADE ASSIGNMENT: EX 08-09 DOE ($82,280 - $136,640) West Elk Mine Benefits Package (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D, 401k, HSA, FSA and more) and Performance Recognition Plan (PRP) Eligible JOB LOCATION: Mountain Coal Company - West Elk Mine

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for maintaining environmental regulatory compliance while protecting company assets (i.e., people, property, time). Represent the company in a professional and effective manner to both internal and external parties on matters pertaining to environmental regulatory compliance. This will include but is not limited to: Develop, implement, and maintain systems and programs to promote compliance with Federal and Colorado state regulations including, but not limit EPA/Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Clean Air Act, Title V compliance, APEN and AIRS ID management, RICE, GHG reporting, Method 9 testing, and the new CO Air Toxics Reporting Requirements. Clean Water Act, NPDES compliance, SWMP, SPCC, potable water permitting, assist in operation and maintenance of a water and wastewater faci Waste Management (RCRA, municipal waste, etc.) Annual Toxic Release Inventory Reporting (TRI) OSMRE and SMCRA (Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety - CDRMS) Prepare and submit mine plan revisions to CDRMS and all activities involved with bonding and reclaiming areas within the mine permit. Annual reporting Water Rights Monitor and maintain the Mine's water rights and interests. Support and contribute to Arch Resources ESG Initiative. Participate in regular audits and inspections of operations areas to evaluate compliance with regulatory programs and conformance with site environmental management system policies, procedures, and requirements. Collaborate with outside consultants and legal counsel on a variety of matters as they arise. Accompany regulatory inspectors on periodic inspections of work areas on and off the mine site. Coordinate compliance efforts/responses to regulatory agencies in response to citations and/or notices of violation. Establish a culture that promotes individual ownership and responsibility for safety and environmental stewardship by coaching and mentoring employees on their roles and responsibilities related to both. Represent the mine with various trade organizations and interest groups (Club 20, CMA., etc.). Actively support and promote Behavioral Based Safety (BBS)

Minimum Qualifications: Must have a BS in Environmental Engineering or a science related field. Able and willing to learn and stay up to date on guidance of state and federal environmental regulations, interpret regulations for applicability and develop effective compliance plans with appropriate operational groups. Strong computer skills for database work and proficiency in MS Office. Able to manage and analyze large environmental datasets with spreadsheets and other technical software. Demonstrates initiative, strong organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under deadlines and budgets. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment and as an individual contributor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience supervising personnel. Five years direct experience in environmental compliance with a minimum of three years in an industrial setting, including regulatory agency interaction

Criteria/Conditions: Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures. Ability to communicate with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards. Work is in an office, outside, an underground mine, and in a plant setting, which may include exposure to adverse conditions including, but not limited to, extreme heat, cold, dust, rain, snow, a d wind. This position requires walking over uneven, sloped, rocky, wet, or icy.
