What We're Looking For

This role is responsible for assisting in the production and delivery of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) products such as Strategic Plans, O&M Formulas, Industry Presentations, Feasibility Studies, Standard Operating Guidelines, and Device Specifications - on a statewide level. This role is embedded within the FDOT Traffic Engineering and Operations Office (TEOO) in Tallahassee and works closely with Department Leadership as well as all FDOT Districts. Specifically, this role will be working on the Statewide TSM&O GC. Transportation Engineering and Operations program areas supported by the TSM&O GC include:

• Florida's Statewide ITS Program

• Transportation Management Centers (TMCs) throughout the State

• Florida's Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), SunGuide

• Florida's Advanced Traveler Information System (ATIS), FL511

• Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV)

• Managed Lanes including Express Lanes

• FDOT's Traffic Engineering Research Lab (TERL)

• Arterial Roadway Systems

• Safety Initiatives such as Smart Workzones and Wrong Way Vehicle Detection

• Industry Outreach

• Emergency Management and Disaster Response

What You'll Do:

• Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.

• Responsible for preparation and/or modification for select portions of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.

• Develops project quantities and assists with development of cost estimates.

• Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.

• Able to self-sufficiently complete various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience, or

• Master’s degree in Engineering and 1 year of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

• Performs research, program development, calculations, design, and delivery in partnership with the project team.

• Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for tasks ranging in size and complexity.

• Leverages technical knowledge to assist in the execution and evaluation of project deliverables.

• Develops conceptual and detailed designs, presentation, documents, and other deliverables to support the project by using tools, programs and software.

• Provides status reports to project management - including the Client.

• As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery on a diverse range of products for the FDOT Engineering and Operations Office.
